★"But It Fades"★

A lil poem I wrote around two or so months ago~ it was written after my girlfriend broke up with me

i can still remember
when our relationship had truly started
on an average day soon to be an ember
that could spark a forest fire

id been feeling
for quite a while then
hoping and hoping and hoping
you felt the same too

i gave little hints
as we walked around the track
and once we'd finished our sprints
you turned to stare at me

"is it me?"
you asked
and i nodded slowly, feeling free
after the secret was exposed

my next words were
"i love you"
and your eyes sparkled like a miniature star
"i love you too"

i was content
at ease with the world
i had everything id dreamt
i might have one day

but we were young
and feelings fade away
i thought youd be the one id clung
onto every single day

but young feelings fade
and they go away
we had our fun in the shade
thinking wed last forever

but love can still fade
and it can go away
even if you prayed and prayed
for it to stay

we had our fun
lasting together
but two can still turn into one
when it was more than done

we thought wed last forever
hand in hand against the cruel cruel world
fighting together
love coursing strong

but it fades
and it goes away
if only for one
and leaves the other astray

Oh my, this is so sad. I'm so sorry for the heartbreak you endured.

Although, you have a real talent for composing poetry! The lines were beautiful, and I love that you used free verse. Your descriptions really brought the emotions to life.
